MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — For the second year in a row, senior
Abigail Hassman won the CAA Championships meet, finishing with a time of 21:03.5 on the 6K course and junior Ben Godish picked up his first CAA Championship win with a time of 24:06.4 at Pole Green Park Friday morning. Hassman led the women to a third-place finish and Godish led the men to a second-place finish.
WOMEN
- After Hassman's win, the Huskies picked up 78 places as they came in third behind Elon (36 places) and Stony Brook (55 places).
- Hassman remains the only Northeastern runner to ever win a CAA Championship after securing her second victory, earning Most Outstanding Performer honors.
- Senior Azza Borovicka-Swanson finished in sixth place, taking All-CAA honors as she ran a time of 21:21.3.
- Following her was senior Ava Duggan, whose 22:01.9 time was good for 22nd place.
- Senior Isa Meyers and freshman Natasha Sortland followed in 24th and 25th place with times of 22:02.6 and 22:02.9, respectively.
MEN
- Godish, this year's Most Outstanding Performer, was last year's runner up to Alexander Korczynski, but this year led the Huskies to a second-place finish with 49 places. They finished behind Stony Brook, who earned 36 places.
- Following Godish was senior Patrick Cullen, who finished in fourth place with a time of 24:25.0, earning All-CAA honors.
- Senior Patrick Mullen was just .3 seconds behind Cullen, as he picked up fifth place after running a 24:25.3 time and earning an All-CAA nod.
- Rounding out the top five for the Huskies was senior Malav Mehta, who finished 19th with a time of 25:15.1, and senior Tyler Brogan, who came in 20th with a time of 25:20.2.
Next up, both teams will travel to the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, Nov. 10.
