Northeastern Welcomes Vermont For Home Series

BOSTON— The Northeastern Huskies host their first conference series of the season at Matthews Arena this weekend as they welcome the Vermont Catamounts. Friday night's contest will be streamed on NESN as Hockey East's Game of the Week.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. VERSUS THE CATAMOUNTS: This matchup marks the 78th contest between the two programs. The overall series is knotted at a 35-35-8 record. Of the last eight outings with Vermont, Northeastern has been victorious six times, out-shooting their opponent 28-10. In the 2022-23 season alone, the Huskies finished 3-0-0 against the Catamounts, out-shooting them, 13-2, and wrapping up with back-to-back shutouts.
  2. DEFENSIVE WEAPON: Pito Walton, the New Jersey native, continues to be a consistent presence for Northeastern. He leads all blueliners with 11 points from three goals and eight assists. He ranks first among all skaters with 25 blocked shots. The 6-2 defenseman has also collected 39 shots and three power-play goals, second most on the team.
  3. HOWLIN' HUSKIES: The Huskies scoring efforts continue to be led by senior Alex Campbell and sophomore Jack Williams. Campbell boasts 18 points from nine goals and nine assists. His two short-handed goals on the year are tied for third among all skaters in the NCAA. Williams' 18 points on the year come from eight assists and a team-high ten goals. Additionally, the Maine native has already surpassed his point total from last season (17) in 20 fewer games.
