HOPKINTON, N.H. — Freshmen
Emily McCann and
Nico Boyle impressed the field, leading the Northeastern Huskies women's and men's cross country teams on Friday afternoon at the New England Championships.
Women
- The Northeastern women's team took ninth overall at the event out of 21 competing teams.
- McCann was the first Husky to finish, taking 22nd with a new personal best time of 18:29.16 in the 5k race.
- Sophomore Natasha Sortland followed close behind, finishing in 25th at 18:31.87.
- Freshman Emily Wickard was the next runner to cross the finish line for Northeastern, coming in 53rd with a 19:12.61 mark.
- Freshmen Lilly Poteet (78th | 19:33.73), Anna Lonergan (83rd | 19:36.35), and Ella Dunbury (86th | 19:38.73) rounded out the women's Huskies with top 100 finishes.
Men
- Only three members of the men's team competed on the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
- Boyle led the men's team with a 33rd place finish, setting a time of 25:26.52 in the 8k race.
- Sophomore Ryan Gruckza was the second Husky to cross the line, taking 60th at 26:02.36. Freshman Jacob Redman rounded out the lineup with a 27:03.35 mark to finish in 119th.
The Northeastern Huskies cross country team concludes its three-week stretch of races on Saturday, Oct. 19, as it competes at Pre Nationals, hosted by Wisconsin.
