MADISON, Wis. — A week before the CAA Championships, the Northeastern Huskies women's and men's cross country teams competed at Pre-National, hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison on Saturday afternoon.
Women
- The women's team finished fourth at the event with a score of 189, behind Washington State, Air Force, and Vanderbilt.
- Graduate student Abigail Hassman was the first Husky to cross the finish line, taking third with a time of 20:14.6 in the 6k race and finishing 14 seconds behind.
- Graduate student Azza Borovicka-Swanson was next to finish, earning 15th with a time of 20:53.1, followed by graduate student Ava Duggan, who rounded out the top 20 with a 20:58.3 mark.
- Tessa McClain took 64th with a time of 1:42.9, while senior Nicole Dunbury crossed the line at 21:58.4 to finish 87th. Graduate student Lena LeBrun was the last runner to finish for Northeastern, earning 122nd place with a 22:29.0 mark.
Men
- The men took 21st as a team at Pre-Nationals, scoring 594 points.
- Graduate student Tyler Brogan was the first men's Husky to finish, taking 93rd with a time of 25:14.2 on the 8k course.
- Senior Kyle Sarney was next to cross the finish line, recording a time of 25:24.3 to earn 105th, while freshman Ryan Leslie followed close behind to take 111th with a 25:26.8 mark.
- Sophomore Ryan Sarney took home 142nd with a time of 26:00.2 and freshman Timothy Rank finished 18 seconds behind to earn 153rd. Senior Noah Mooney was the last men's Husky to finish, finishing in 170th at 26:57.6.
Next, the Northeastern Huskies cross country teams return to the east coast to compete in the CAA Championships, which will be held in Elon, N.C. on Friday, Nov. 1.
