Koo Breaks Individual Medley Record At Boston Winter Open

BOSTON — Senior Jamie Koo broke the Northeastern record in the 100 IM as the Northeastern swim and dive team finished up competition at the Boston Winter Open, hosted by Boston University Saturday. 
 
SATURDAY
  • Koo's time of 57.22 was the best in school history, besting Kotoko Blair's previous time of 53.84 seconds.
  • Freshman May Bradburn set a personal best in the 200 Free, touching the wall at 1:51.21 and winning the event. Bradburn also set a personal best in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.49.
  • Junior Francesca Arciniegas swam the 100 Fly in 56.26, finishing second, while senior Nikita Pelletier followed behind in fifth with a time of 59.90.
  • Freshman Joyce Wu finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.38, a collegiate best for the Rockville, Maryland native.
  • In the 100 Back, juniors Devon Muldoon (56.33) and Hannah Seward (57.07) finished second and third, respectively.
  • The Huskies' 200 Medley Relay squad of senior Katherine Hong, senior Lena Wang, junior Angela Woronko and Pelletier took second, clocking in at 1:46.67.
  • In the 200 Free Relay, it was Hong, Woronko, Pelletier and sophomore Cambria Semmen who won the event, finishing at 1:36.36.
  • Senior Grace Miller was the top NU finisher in the 200 Back, touching the wall at 2:03.74.
FRIDAY
  • Junior Hannah Seward touched the wall at 5:02.25 in the 500 Free, winning the event, and classmate Devon Muldoon finished second with a time of 5:06.42.
  • Freshman Joyce Wu was the top Husky finisher in the 200 IM, taking sixth with a time of 2:10.65.
  • Freshman Mary Nordmann won the 50-yard freestyle with a 23.62 time, just .08 seconds off her season-best.
  • Northeastern's quartet of senior Nikita Pelletier, sophomore Cambria Semmen, junior Francesca Arciniegas and senior Sofia Long finished second in the 400 Free Relay, touching the wall at 3:36.47.
  • Senior Lena Wang (5:30.01 – 500 Free), freshman Bella Busconi (2:15.36 – 200 IM) and sophomore Elisabeth Bendall (24.46 – 50 Free) all set personal bests.
The Huskies will head to the CAA Swimming and Diving Championships for their next meet from Feb. 28 to March 2 in Hampton, Virginia.
