BOSTON— Head coach
Dave Flint of the Northeastern women's hockey team has announced the captains that will comprise the 2024-25 leadership group for the team.
Taze Thompson was named captain, and
Molly Griffin and
Kristina Allard will serve as assistant captains.
The trio helped guide Northeastern to a record 19th Beanpot title and an eighth-consecutive trip to the Hockey East Championship game during the 2023-24 season.
"Words truly come up short to express the honor and gratitude I feel to have been elected captain by my teammates," remarked Thompson. "The legacy of leadership coming before me, Molly and Kristina has upheld this program to a high standard and has created a special culture that we're committed to maintaining. The coaches, staff and incredible women beside me in Matthews Arena ultimately make this position so rewarding. I must give credit to my teammates, as they have molded me into the leader they've elected. Being able to give back to them as well as our incoming players is an unparalleled privilege that I am so excited for this upcoming season."
Each member of the leadership group will be wearing a letter for the first time in their Northeastern careers.
A rising senior, Thompson has appeared in 110 games amassing 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points in her NCAA career. Thompson is the second-straight Canadian to wear the 'C' for the Huskies and is the first fourth-year player named captain since Brooke Hobson in 2020-21.
Headed into her fifth-year, Griffin has appeared in 101 games for the Huskies. The Arlington, Massachusetts native has posted 16 points in her career.
A rising junior, Allard is the lone defenseman in the leadership group. Coming back from an injury that cut her freshman year short, Allard appeared in 38 games and posted two goals and four assists for six points in her sophomore campaign.
