DALLAS - Northeastern University first baseman
Tyler MacGregor has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) District 1 Player of the Year, announced Friday afternoon. The association selects players of the year for all nine districts, with District 1 representing players who play for teams in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
MacGregor set several new single-season and career program records in 2024 as the Huskies collected their second-most wins in program history going 38-17. MacGregor was named Co-Player of the Year in the Coastal Athletic Assocation, leading the conference in batting average (.402), hits (94), RBIs (80), slugging % (.786), doubles (29) and runs scored (72). He also led the Huskies with a career-high 19 homers on the year. He was ranked top 10 in the nation in hits (7th), RBIs (7th), and total bases (184, 6th), while leading the NCAA in doubles at the end of the regular season.
MacGregor, who joined the Huskies in 2023 as a grad. transfer from Columbia, becomes the first Husky to earn NCBWA District Player of the Year honors, further cementing his place in the Northeastern record books.
