AMHERST, Mass. — Freshmen
Alanna Hagen and
Jack Mattingly led Northeastern in their respective races at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational, hosted by UMass Amherst. In their collegiate debuts, Hagen earned the women's team a sixth-place finish, and Mattingly took 16th for the men's team.
Women
- The women's team scored a 55 and finished second behind host UMass.
- Hagen crossed the line in 6th with a time of 14:26.34 on the 4k course, and sophomore Natasha Sortland finished 1.45 seconds behind her to claim seventh place.
- Graduate student Stephanie Kriss ran a time of 14:45.99 to finish 12th overall and third on the Huskies in her first race for Northeastern.
- Freshman Emily Wickard took 16th place with a 14:50.72 mark, and sophomore Keira Gamily finished close behind in 19th with a time of 14:57.54 to round out the five scoring runners.
- Five of the nine runners on the women's made their collegiate debut at today's event.
Men
- With a team score of 96 places, the men's team claimed fourth at the event.
- Mattingly ran a 19:17.76 on the 6k course, earning himself a 16th-place finish.
- Freshman Nico Boyle was the next Husky to cross the finish line, taking 18th with a time of 19:20.97, while freshman Ryan Leslie ran a 19:26.29 to finish right behind in 19th.
- Freshman Jacob Redman came in 22nd with a 19:48.80 mark, and sophomore Ryan Gruckza rounded out Northeastern's scorers with a 23rd-place finish and a time of 19:55.74.
- Six of the seven runners on the men's made their collegiate debut at today's event.
Northeastern moves on to its next competition with the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, on Saturday, Sept. 21.
