Savannah Blair Named To Team Canada For World U20 Championships

BOSTON – Women's track & field rising sophomore Savannah Blair has been named to Team Canada for the upcoming World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru from August 27 to 31. Blair will compete in the 100 meter dash.

"I am extremely proud of all the Canadians who qualified for the 2024 U20 World Championships," said head coach Carmyn James. "The qualification standards are based on marks that reflect what it has taken to place 16th at past WA U20 Championships. So, to have 27 athletes at that level is very impressive."

In her first season with the Huskies in 2023-24, Blair broke the 22-year old school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.46 seconds at the Giegengack Invitational in February, besting Jordine Kimbrel's previous record of 7.49 seconds. She also logged the team's top time of the season in the 200-meter dash (24.12), good for third in Northeastern history, while her time of 39.66 seconds in the 300-meter dash was good for third on the squad. She also earned seven points towards the team total at the CAA Indoor Championships, helping the Huskies to the conference title.

Prior to Northeastern, Blair competed in the 100-meter dash for Team Canada at the U20 Pan American Championships in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
