Northeastern Set To Compete In River Hawk Invitational

BOSTON — The Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams return to the Track at New Balance to compete at the River Hawk Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell. The event will take place on January 24 and 25, starting at 9 a.m. on both days. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children under 16 years old.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. NEWEST NUMBER ONES – Graduate student Benjamin Godish and sophomores Brunner Williams and Savannah Blair stole the show last Saturday at the Battle in Beantown after setting new program records. Blair kicked off the afternoon of accomplishments with a second-place finish in the women's 60m, running a 7.42 and surpassing her own school record by a tenth of a second. Williams added a win in the men's 200m, crossing the line at 21.13 to hold the fastest time recorded in program history, and Godish completed the meet with a 7:51.73 mark in the men's 3000m, taking third and starting his indoor season at the top of the All-Time Performance List.
  2. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BEANS – Along with the three new program records, the Huskies competed strongly throughout the Battle in Beantown. The team picked up five wins on the track, highlighted by sophomore Johnny Emmanuel (48.41) winning the men's 400m and graduate student Ava Duggan (2:09.78) taking first place in the women's 800m. Senior Athanasios Pantazopolous earned Northeastern's only victory in the field events, clearing the bar at 4.60m to win the men's pole vault, and sophomore Mark Etienvre finished fifth in the men's Jarred Rome shot put with a toss of 15.10m, a new personal best. Northeastern also saw four new All-Time performances set, with Williams running a 6.81 in the 60m to rank fifth all-time, graduate student Lena Lebrun (4:49.44) running the sixth fastest time in the mile, freshman Jaice Dorsey running an 8.74 in the 60m Hurdles to rank ninth all-time, and sophomore Hannah Shaw (3.65m) recording the ninth highest mark in the women's pole vault.
  3. RIVER HAWK INVITATIONAL REWIND — Last year's attempt at the River Hawk Invitational saw several personal bests and top finishes. Senior Vivian McMahon entered the All-Time Performance list after running a 2:53.99 in the women's 1000m, while junior Ava Carry-McDonald set a then-personal best of 27.11 in the women's 200m. On the men's side, senior Tremain Robinson recorded a then-personal best of 17.46m in the men's weight throw.
