BOSTON - The Northeastern women's swimming & diving team (2–0) looks to keep its unbeaten streak alive with a Friday night tri-meet against MIT and Harvard on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. The meet will take place at the Zesiger Center Pool in Cambridge, Mass., and will be streamed live on FloCollege.
1. SO FAR SO GOOD: The Huskies have opened the season on a high note, entering their first tri-meet with two dual-meet victories under their belt. Their early success has also earned two CAA weekly honors — junior
Mary Nordmann was named CAA Swimmer of the Week, while freshman
Kailyn Aquino earned CAA Diver of the Week recognition.
2. FAST FRESHMAN: Northeastern's rookie class continues to impress with several standout performances in the team's most recent meet.
Abigail Gowern kicked off the wins with a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, followed by Alex Fuller, who swept both the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle.
Marea Li added a win in the 200 breaststroke, and Alex Campion closed things out with a victory in the 200 individual medley.
3. MASS COMPETITION: The Huskies will stay local this week, heading to Cambridge for a matchup with in-state programs MIT and Harvard, both opening their seasons. Northeastern is familiar with the Zesiger Center Pool, having competed there each of the past two seasons.
Northeastern will take a week off and resume competition in November. The Huskies will then travel to UCONN to face the fellow Huskies on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 12 p.m.
