AMESBURY, Mass. -– Freshman
Amine Hajibi and junior
Lawton Zacher of the Northeastern men's hockey team have been recognized with weekly honors from Hockey East, as announced Monday. Hajibi was named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, while Zacher earned Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Week.
Hajibi made his mark in a big way, breaking through for his first collegiate goal to lift Northeastern to a 1-0 shutout victory over No. 7 Denver – the Huskies' second consecutive win against a national ranked opponent. The rookie forward finished with one shot on goal and a plus-one rating in the statement win.
Zacher was a wall between the pipes, posting a 35-save shutout to backstop the Huskies to their second straight upset victory. The junior netminder denied all 35 shots he faced, including 15 in a stellar second-period stretch, earning his first shutout of the season and his first as a Husky.
The Huskies return to action this week with a home-and-home series against No. 11 Boston College, opening Thursday night at Conte Forum before returning to Matthews Arena on Friday.
