Women's Hoops Travels To UMass Lowell & Rutgers

BOSTON -- The Northeastern women's basketball team (2-4) begins a two-game road swing with a pair of games at UMass Lowell (2-3) on Tuesday, November 25 at 6 p.m. before heading to Rutgers (4-2) on Friday, November 28 at 7 p.m. The UMass Lowell game will be streamed on ESPN+ and NESN+ while the Rutgers matchup will air on Big10Network.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. FREE THROW FRENZY: Northeastern's 30 made free throws on Saturday against Sacred Heart were the most in over two decades. The last time the Huskies made 30 or more free throws was February 3, 2002 against Maine, when they set the program record with 32 conversions. Sophomore guard Camryn Collins made a career high 11 free throws in the game, the most by a Husky since Alexis Hill went 13-for-18 against Elon in 2020. Collins' mark propelled her to a new career high of 19 points in the win over the Pioneers.

2. BATTLE IN THE MILL CITY: It'll be just the third ever meeting between the Huskies and the River Hawks, with the all-time series tied 1-1. Both home teams have won their respective matchups in the series: Northeastern claimed a 78-74 victory at the Cabot Center on November 20, 2021, while UMass Lowell won 65-57 at the Kennedy Complex on December 16, 2020. The River Hawks enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-3 record after dropping games to Boston College, UMass, and Boston University, and claiming victories over Saint Anselm and CCSU. UMass Lowell features balanced scoring with five players averaging 8.4 points per game or more, led by junior guard Maddie Rice with 9.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

3. SCOUTING RUTGERS: Northeastern and Rutgers will meet for the first time since the 2014-15 season, with the Scarlet Knights holding a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series. Rutgers enters Monday night's matchup with Sienna with a 4-2 record in head coach Coquese Washington's fourth season in Piscataway. The Scarlet Knights are led by a balanced offensive attack featuring four players averaging double-figure scoring, including junior forward Nene Ndiaye at 15.8 points per game and graduate student guard Kaylah Ivey at 12.0 points per game. Rutgers most recently fell at Auburn, 51-46 last Thursday, their first and only road game of the season thus far.

Following the Rutgers game, the Huskies will return home to host UMass on Wednesday, December 3 at 4 p.m. for their last home game of the calendar year. That game can be seen on NESN and FloCollege.
