Northeastern Begins Outdoor Season At UCF Black & Gold Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Northeastern track & field team returns to competition this weekend, traveling south to take on the UCF Black and Gold Invitational on March 21 and 22. The Huskies are looking to repeat as CAA outdoor track and field champions for the first time in program history and be the first CAA team to do it since 2004.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. EVERYBODY LOVES THE SUNSHINE — The Huskies begin the outdoor season this weekend in the Sunshine State as they look to retain their title as CAA outdoor track and field champions. Last year's attempt at UCF saw many top times set, including sophomore Johnny Emmanuel recording a 47.55 in the 400m, the fifth fastest time on the Outdoor All-Time Performance List. Following Friday and Saturday's action, the team will continue competing nationwide, traveling to schools like Texas, NC State, Florida, and more to face top competition.
  2. CAA-N THEY MAKE HISTORY? — The Northeastern men's track and field team can make school and conference history this season. The Huskies won their ninth straight conference title last season, the longest streak in CAA track and field history, and look to become the first outdoor track and field team to win ten straight conference championships. No other track and field program has won ten consecutive championships, and that accomplishment has only been achieved five times across all CAA sports, including once at Northeastern.
  3. A GROUP OF ALL TRADES — Thirteen track and field athletes depart to Florida to kick off the outdoor season. Senior Ethan Exilhomme and graduate student Noah Sweeney return to the racing rubber for the first time this season, and freshman Cora Kunze and graduate student Kevin Fairchild make their Northeastern track and field debuts. Also traveling are the three-time reigning CAA weight throw champion, graduate student Nicholas Pisciotta, and CAA weight throw silver medalist, senior Tremain Robinson.

The Huskies continue their season with the Texas Relays from March 26 to March 29, and the Raleigh Relays from March 27 to March 29.
