Northeastern Track & Field Rounds Out Indoor Season At ECAC/IC4A & NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON – The Northeastern track and field team concludes its indoor season this weekend with the NEICAAA Indoor Championship, held at the Reggie Lewis Center on Mar. 7, and the ECAC/IC4A Championships, held at the BU Track and Tennis Center from Mar. 7 to Mar. 9. This is the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

  1. COMING HOME HEAVY HANDED — The Huskies fiercely competed at this past week's CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, as the men and women both finished third overall. 15 medals were collected over the two-day championships, with senior Ben Godish bestowing three gold medals after cruising to wins in all three distance events (Mile, 3000m, and 5000m). His efforts garnered him the CAA Track Athlete of the Meet, the second year he has won the honor in a row. Other gold medalists include graduate student Nicholas Pisciotta, who set a meet record in the men's weight throw, sophomore Camryn Cole in the women's high jump, graduate student Hope Belvit in the women's weight throw, and the women's DMR team of graduate student Lena Lebrun, senior Lucy Abdow, sophomore Brittani Westberry, and freshman Morgan Hayward.
  2. LAST TIME AT ECAC/IC4A — Northeastern ran well in last year's ECAC/1C4A event, breaking a school record and earning multiple top-ten finishes. The men's 4x800 relay team, which included graduate student Tyler Brogan, ran the fastest time in school history and broke a facility record of 7:24.68. Senior Kyle Sarney earned the Huskies' second victory on the day in the mile, crossing the line at 4:08.62.
  3. LOOKING AHEAD — The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships follow this weekend's action, with the Huskies looking to represent on the big stage. After the Indoor Championships, Northeastern looks ahead to the outdoor track and field season. They enter as the reigning champions on the men's and women's side and look to become the first repeat outdoor champions since the Huskies did it back in 2018.
