NU Prepares For Meets In Florida, Rhode Island, Massachusetts

BOSTON, Mass. — Following top performances in Florida and Connecticut this past weekend, the Northeastern track and field team prepares for three meets along the East Coast. The Huskies begin their weekend with the first day of the South Florida Invitational and Friar Invitational on Friday, April 11, followed by the second day at South Florida on Saturday, April 12, and the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Sunday, April 13. Fifty-seven total athletes will represent Northeastern across the three meets.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. EXCELLENT EIGHT — Eight Huskies set all-time marks at the Florida Relays and UConn Dog Fight, led by graduate student Cameron Rodgers, recording the second fastest men's 400m hurdles, where he set a time of 50.98 in Florida. Both 4x100 relay teams also set top ten marks at the UConn Dog Fight, as the women ran a 45.94 for the third fastest mark in outdoor school history, and the men a 40.21 for the fourth fastest time. Other top ten performers included seniors Lucy Abdow (10:02.51, 7th) and Shannon Trevor (10:04.75, 8th) in the women's 3000m, sophomores Hannah Shaw and Katie Rodriguez (3.61m, t-9th) in the women's pole vault, and junior Michael Stroup (10.60, 10th) in the men's 100m.
  2. UP AND DOWN THE COAST — Northeastern is competing along the East Coast for the second straight week. The team returns to Florida for their final meet in the Sunshine State as they compete at the University of South Florida and travel simultaneously to Providence and Amherst. The Huskies were excellent at last year's Friar Invitational, breaking a school record and setting nine all-time top-ten marks under the lights.
  3. PUT THE THROWING WORLD ON NOTICE — The Northeastern men's throwers have established themselves as one of the best groups in the nation, ranking 11th in the men's hammer throw according to USTFCCCA. Graduate student Nicholas Pisciotta (63.17m) holds the best mark in the CAA and 27th best in the East Qualifying Region, accompanied by senior Tremain Robinson (57.94m), freshman Zackery DelSasso (56.15m) and sophomore Aidan Moreau (55.00m), who all rank in the top ten of the hammer throw in the CAA and top 30 in the Northeast Region.
