Boyle And Huskies Finish Day One Of CAA Outdoor Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Nico Boyle collected his and the team's first medal Wednesday night, as the Northeastern track and field team competed in the first day of the 2025 CAA Outdoor Championships at the Marcus T. Johnson Track. The men's team accumulated 20 points and sits in fourth, while the women collected 13 points and are in sixth.

COMBINED EVENTS
  • Freshman Genevieve Duchaussee concluded the first day of the heptathlon with 2,808 points, good for fourth place. Her best event came in the shot put, where she recorded a throw of 11.24m to finish first. Freshman Madison Phillips sits with 2,242 points.
  • Senior Paul Wisnaskas ended the day in fourth with 3,448 points. He logged three fourth-place finishes (Long Jump, High Jump, and 400m) and sits 504 points behind the leader.
FIELD EVENTS
  • Junior Max Zuckerman was the highest finishing Husky in the men's pole vault, recording a mark of 4.63m to earn fifth. Junior Kevin Xu and sophomore Alexander Yuen both cleared the bar at 4.33m for seventh and eighth.
  • In the women's javelin throw, junior Hailey Romero secured fifth after her first attempt reached 37.96m. Senior Julietta Ambartsoumian also competed, taking ninth with a mark of 32.13m.
  • Sophomore Camryn Cole jumped 5.51m in the women's long jump to earn ninth.
  • Graduate student Cameron Rodgers made the men's long jump final, finishing eighth overall after leaping to 6.86m.
TRACK EVENTS
  • Freshman Jacob Redman finished fourth overall in the men's 1500m prelims, clocking a season-best 3:53.73 to qualify for tomorrow's finals. His classmate, freshman Jack Mattingly, finished one spot outside qualifying, but set a new personal best of 3:55.25.
  • Senior Nicole Dunbury won her heat and finished second overall in the women's 1500m, recording a 4:33.48 to secure a spot in the final.
  • All three runners qualified for the men's 110m hurdle final, as senior Ethan Exilhomme (13.60) won his heat and earned first place overall, and Rodgers (14.31) and graduate student Savion Thompson (14.43) recorded season-bests en route to qualifying.
  • Sophomore Quincy Scott finished 15th overall in the men's 400m dash, setting a personal best of 48.62. In the women's edition, junior Ariann Robinson earned a spot in the final after finishing the event second overall with a 54.91.
  • Graduate student Tristen Howard (10.48) and sophomore Brunner Williams (10.45) sprinted their way to the final of the men's 100m, finishing second and third in their respective heats.
  • Sophomore Savannah Blair finished first in her heat and fifth overall to make the women's 100m final, recording a time of 11.68. Freshman Cora Kunze set a personal best of 12.05, finishing fourth in her heat.
  • The men's 800m saw two Huskies earn spots in Thursday's final. Senior Reed Cherry (1:52.56) won his heat and finished third overall, while junior Conall Rogers (1:52.68) followed close behind to finish second in the same heat and sixth overall.
  • Rodgers qualified for his second final of the championships, this time in the men's 400m hurdles. He finished the race at 52.75 for second place overall. In the women's 400m hurdle, freshman Sloan Hinton logged a personal best of 1:01.51.
  • Three Huskies qualified for the men's 200m final, with Williams (21.37) sprinting his way to fourth, and Howard (21.46) and freshman Taeshawn Berry (21.58) taking seventh and eighth.
  • Blair (23.93) won her heat in the women's 200m prelims, and A. Robinson (24.54) secured the final qualifying spot to make it to the finals.
  • Sophomores Ryan Sarney and Ryan Gruczka recorded personal bests in the men's 3000m steeplechase, with Sarney claiming fifth after running a 9:17.60 and Gruczka finishing ninth with a 9:46.17.
  • Graduate student Lena Lebrun earned fifth in the women's 3000m steeplechase, setting a time of 10:50.45, while senior Shannon Trevor marched her way to eighth and a season-best 11:07.58.
  • Boyle was the lone Husky to compete in the penultimate race of the night, distancing himself to the silver medal in the men's 10,000m. He crossed the line at 30:31.31, setting a top-50 mark in the Northeast Region in his first attempt in the race.
  • Graduate student Tessa McClain (35:07.79) concluded the first day of competition by placing fifth in the women's 10,000m.
The Huskies begin day two of the CAA Outdoor Championships tomorrow, May 15, at 9 a.m. The meet will be available to stream on FloSports.
