Men Place First, Women Finish Third At Maribel Sanchez Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. — Freshman William French and sophomore Emily Wickard led the Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams in their respective races at the Maribel Sanchez Invitational on Saturday at the Dartmouth XC course. French led the men's team to a first-place and Wickard helped the women's team to a third-place finish.

Men
  • With a team score of 35 points, the men's team claimed first at the 8K event.
  • French ran a 24:48.20 on the course, he led the Huskies and came in at third place overall just .10 behind second place.
  • After French, senior Patrick Cantlon crossed the finish line at 24:53.90 to earn a fourth-place finish.
  • Sophomore Nico Boyle finished seventh with a time of 24:55.60.
  • Junior Ryan Sarney was close behind Boyle at eighth place, finishing at a time of 25:19.80. Sarney beat his personal record by 8 seconds. 
Women
  • The women's team scored a 65 and finished third behind Dartmouth.
  • Wickard finished with a time of 21:57.90 on the 6K course, beating the next runner by 5.8 seconds to claim sixth-place.
  • Junior Keira Gamily finished tenth overall and second of the Huskies with a time of 22:19.40.
  • Graduate student Stephanie Kriss ran a time of 22:30.20 to finish 14th.  
  • Rounding out the Huskies' five scoring runners was sophomore Alanna Hagen who finished with an 22:44.70 mark in 18th place overall, and graduate student Lauren Trejo with an 22:49.70 mark in 19th place. 
Following this performance, the Huskies move on to postseason competition at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Bronx, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 19.
