Northeastern And New Hampshire Meet In Home-And-Home Series

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team returns to Hockey East action with a home-and-home series against New Hampshire, beginning Friday (Jan. 16) at 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center before concluding Sunday (Jan. 18) with a home matchup at Walter Brown Arena. Friday night's game will be broadcast live on NESN.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. CLASH WITH THE 'CATS: Northeastern has controlled the rivalry of late, posting a 13-6-1 record over the last 20 meetings while outscoring the Wildcats 79-40. Northeastern's leadership group paces all active Huskies in career points against New Hampshire with assistant captain Andy Moore leading the way with two assists.
  2. THE ROOKIES ARE ROLLIN': Freshmen Giacomo Martino and Jacob Mathieu continue to drive Northeastern's rookie production, combining for 32 points (11g, 21a) through 19 games. Martino has posted 13 points (6g, 7a) and leads the Huskies with a .207 shooting percentage, four power-play goals, and is tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals.
  3. AMONG THE NATION'S BEST: The Huskies boast elite special teams and goaltending numbers through the first half, ranking among the nation's best in multiple categories. Northeastern's .921 team save percentage ranks tied for fourth nationally, while its 86.4% penalty-kill percentage sits eighth in the country—both marks lead Hockey East. Senior Vinny Borgesi leads all NCAA skaters in time on ice at 27:48 per game. Between the pipes, goaltender Lawton Zacher ranks tied for first in shutouts (3), ninth in save percentage (.930), and tied for 14th in goals against average (2.15).
