AMESBURY, Mass. — Freshman
Giacomo Martino of the Northeastern men's hockey team has been named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced by Hockey East on Monday afternoon. This marks the second league honor of Martino's collegiate career.
Martino led all Hockey East rookies with four points (1G, 3A) over the week, pacing all freshmen in the conference. The forward tallied his sixth power-play goal of the season and added an assist as the Huskies upset No. 7/6 Providence, 4-2. In addition to his offensive contributions, Martino added two shots on goal and two blocked shots over the week.
Through Hockey East play, Martino ranks in the top four among all league freshmen in goals (6), assists (8), and points (14). His four power-play goals are tied for first among all rookies in conference play and tied for second overall in Hockey East.
Martino and the Huskies are set for a two-game road series this Friday and Saturday with UMass Lowell at Tsongas Arena.
