Northeastern Hosts Elon For Three at Friedman

BOSTON – The Northeastern University baseball team (10-8, 5-1 CAA) returns to Friedman Diamond this weekend to host the Elon Phoenix (9-11, 2-4 CAA) in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday, March 20th at 2 p.m. Saturday's game is set for 1 p.m. and Sunday's series finale is also at 1 p.m. All three games will be streamed on FloCollege, and Saturday's contest will serve as the team's Strike Out The Stigma Mental Health Awareness Game.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

1. HIGHWAY ROBBERY The Huskies are wreaking havoc on the basepaths in 2026. Northeastern enters the weekend with 74 stolen bases on the season, the third-most in the country behind only VMI (108) and Duke (98). Leading the charge is Carmelo Musacchia, whose team-high 19 steals on just 20 attempts rank fourth nationally. The Huskies swiped 11 bags on 15 attempts in Wednesday's win at Brown alone, putting their aggressive baserunning on full display. Northeastern's ability to manufacture runs and apply pressure on opposing batteries has been a hallmark of the 2026 squad.

2. BOUNCE BACK After having their four-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to Merrimack on Tuesday, the Huskies responded with a 7-3 win at Brown on Wednesday. Northeastern scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed, getting a strong outing from David McSweeney on the mound before Cooper Maher picked up the win in relief. Harrison Feinberg scored three runs on the afternoon, while AJ Aschettino and Carter Bentley each drove in runs as the Huskies put together a complete team effort at Murray Stadium.

3. SCOUTING THE PHOENIX Elon enters the weekend having dropped four straight, including a sweep at the hands of UNCW last weekend in which the Phoenix were outscored 27-7 across three games. The Phoenix opened the year strong, sweeping Delaware and taking three of their first four, but a tough schedule that has included trips to Charleston Southern, North Carolina, and NC State has taken its toll. In CAA play, Elon took two of three from North Carolina A&T at home before the UNCW sweep. This weekend's series at Northeastern marks Elon's first trip north of the Carolinas this season. Northeastern leads the all-time series 16-13 and is 9-3 against the Phoenix at Friedman Diamond.
