Luc Rising Named CAA Pitcher Of The Week

BOSTON – Luc Rising has continued his hot streak in CAA play, blanking Stony Brook over 6.0 innings as Northeastern cruised to a 15-0 victory at Friedman Diamond and earning CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.

Rising retired the first eight batters he faced and never allowed the Seawolves to gain a foothold, scattering just three hits while walking two and striking out five. The right-hander's biggest moment came in the fourth inning when Stony Brook loaded the bases with two outs on a ground-rule double and a pair of walks — Rising answered with his second strikeout of the inning to end the threat and keep the shutout intact.

The outing extended a stretch of brilliance for Rising, who has now tossed 12 consecutive scoreless innings with 15 strikeouts across his last two starts. On the season, Rising improves to 5-4, earning wins in his last four CAA starts.

Saturday's win was the middle game of a three-game sweep over Stony Brook, moving the Huskies to within one game of clinching the CAA North's top seed.

Rising is the second Northeastern pitcher to earn CAA Pitcher of the Week honors this season, after Ryan Griffin had claimed the honor twice earlier this season.

The Huskies are back in non-conference action on Tuesday, May 12th at UConn before their final regular season CAA series at Towson, beginning on Thursday, May 14. Tuesday's game UConnHuskies.com/watch, while the weekend series will be streamed on FloCollege.
