BOSTON – Northeastern track and field will be represented by freshman Matthew St. Cyr and graduate student Kyle Sarney at the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships East First Round, held from May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility.
The Walpole, Mass. native, Matthew St. Cyr will represent the Huskies in the javelin. St. Cyr qualified for regionals with a 66.66m mark throw at the UConn Dog Fight and will head into competition in Lexington ranked 30th. He will compete on Wednesday, May 27 at 1 p.m.
Kyle Sarney will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after a standout outdoor season. The North Easton, Mass. native qualified for the East First Round with a time of 8:41.67, set by his race at the Raleigh Relays. Sarney is ranked 16th headed into the competition and will compete on Friday, May 29 at 5:40 p.m.
Both athletes will look to secure a top-12 finish in their respective events to advance to the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field in Oregon. The Huskies begin competition in Lexington on Wednesday, May 27, with live coverage available on ESPN+.
