Senior Karrin Moore tallied a team-high 10 kills as Northeastern swept Hartford (5-14, 0-1 AE) 3-0 (30-22, 30-15, 30-15) in NU's first America East match of the season Tuesday night at Solomon Court. The Huskies improved to 10-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Game one saw 11 ties and 11 lead changes as both teams traded the advantage back and forth. With the score knotted at 17, Northeastern used two kills and several Hawk errors to open up the game at 23-17. Hartford pulled to within four at 25-21 on a cross-court kill from Mary Francis Feldman, but NU embarked on a 5-1 run to finish out the opening contest 30-22.
In game two, the Huskies registered 24 points before allowing the Hawks to score double-digits as they went up 24-9. Whitney Turner led Northeastern with five kills in the second contest as Northeastern captured the game 30-15.
NU jumped out to a wide advantage again in the third game after fighting off a tie at 6-6. The Huskies used several short runs, reeling off 10 straight to jump ahead 16-6 and four straight to stretch their lead to 20-7. Freshman Brittany Eukovich chipped in three kills after the 25-8 mark to help the Huskies wrap up the third game 30-15.
Northeastern garnered a .317 attack percentage and limited the Hawks to .057 for the match. NU registered eight total blocks to one from Hartford.
Husky libero Ashley Adamczyk registered a match-high 13 digs to extend her streak to 26 matches with 10 or more digs, a streak that dates back to last season.
Feldman led the Hawks with 10 kills and Brianne Paulson tallied 15 assists for Hartford, who falls to 5-14 and 0-1 in conference play on the season. Northeastern will return to Solomon Court to host Binghamton Friday night and Albany Saturday night. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m.
