Whitney Turner, Kira Batura and Brittany Eukovich tallied double-digit kills as the Northeastern volleyball team picked up its first win of the year with a 3-1 decision over George Washington on the final day of the Nike/Holiday Inn Sunset Classic in Irvine, Calif. The Huskies also defeated William & Mary 3-1 in the final match of the tournament to pull to 2-2 on the season.
Turner led the team in kills for the fourth straight match as she pounded out 15 kills against George Washington and 22 in the William & Mary match. Batura had a match-high 23 digs against George Washington and against William & Mary, Ashley Adamczyk led both teams with 35 digs.
Freshman setter Bree Peterson and senior libero Adamczyk were named to the Nike/Holiday Inn Sunset Classic Alll-Tournament team.
The Huskies return to Solomon Court for their first home match of the season on Tues., Sept. 7 when they welcome cross-town rival Boston College at 7 p.m.
