Bowling Green 14, Northeastern 2

Bowling Green took advantage of a depleted Northeastern pitching staff, defeating the Huskies, 14-2, Saturday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla.

Senior Devin Monds (1-1), who started yesterday's exhibition game versus the Red Sox, started today and gave up six runs on five hits, walking five and striking out six in four innings. He displayed a powerful fastball and great changeup, but was unable to consistently hit the strike zone.

The Huskies (4-5) mustered only two hits off of Falcons (3-1) starter Keith Laughlin (1-1), who lasted four innings and came out after reaching his pitch count limit.

NU scored its lone runs in the sixth, when junior Arman Sidhu doubled home freshman Josh Porter, and in the ninth when senior Miguel Paquette homered to right.

The Huskies finished their road trip having lost their last two games, but they had endured a long trip that had them playing ten games, including eight in the last five days.

Northeastern returns to action on Saturday, March 12 when they take on Harvard in a doubleheader. Game one begins at 12 p.m.
