Kaylin Miranda secured the top spot in the long jump in a strong showing for the Northeastern Track and Field teams at the Harvard Open on Saturday.

Miranda led the charge for the Huskies, who had 28 top-ten finishes in Cambridge. Northeastern also had a slew of runners notch top-five finishes.

Freshman Alex Shapiro had a solid day, finishing seventh in the 400-meter dash. Classmate Sean Collins picked up a pair of top-ten finishes, nothing sixth-place in the 500-meter dash, and another sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.

Senior Jonathan Hall finished second in the 800-meter run, just two tenths of a second behind the leader.

Northeastern dominated the men high jump top-ten, with Adrian Li, Andrew Staples and Tejorn Davis finishing third, sixth and seventh, respectively. NU also had multiple top-tens in the pole vault, with senior Brian Daly finishing second and freshman Darwin Gibbons finishing tenth.

Miranda's victory in the long jump came over a field of 40 competitors. His IC4A-qualifying jump of 7.15 meters was 0.05 higher than his closest competitor. Teammate Brendan Bergson finished tenth in the event.

Johnathan White finished seventh in the shot put, while a pair of Huskies placed top-ten in the weight throw. Freshman Max Milder finished third, and classmate James Hall notched a tenth place finish.

The Harvard Open will be the Huskies' last competition of 2010. They return to the track on Jan. 7 when they will compete in the Dartmouth Relays in Hanover, N.H.
