Northeastern beat host Quinnipiac 2-0 on Sunday for their first victory of the season. The first half was a scoreless battle, as neither team could put a goal on the board. During the second half though Quinnipiac fouled junior Atha Kirkopoulos in the box resulting in a penalty kick. Kirkopoulos capitalized on the opportunity, netting his first goal of the season at the 60:55 mark.
Just over 15 minutes later, Michael Cipriano made a nice cross to Jochen Beck, who touched in the Huskies' second goal of the game at 75:59. The goal put the Huskies ahead 2-0, and they held on to win by that margin.
Freshman Sergio Saccoccio made six saves for Northeastern to record his first career win and shutout. The Huskies next play at the Memphis Diadora Tournament on Friday as they take on Drury at 5 p.m. The next day they will play host Memphis at 7:30 p.m.
