BOSTON -- The Northeastern University men's soccer team (2-5-2, 1-3-0 CAA) heads down to Long Island for its next CAA match, facing the Hofstra Pride (6-4-0, 3-1-0 CAA) on Saturday evening, October 4
th at 6 p.m. on FloCollege.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
Â
- FAMILIAR FOE: Saturday's match begins the second half of the divisional CAA conference slate, after the Huskies and Pride faced off earlier this season in a rainy Sunday matinee after a postponement of their original match the previous Saturday night due severe thunderstorms. The Huskies got a long range goal from sophomore Ethan Kang, but fell 3-1 at Parsons Field. That Hofstra win tipped the all-time series in the Pride's favor at 15-14-3. Northeastern's last win over Hofstra was in the 11-win 2021 season, taking down the Pride at home by a score of 2-1.
- WHERE THEY STAND: In the CAA North, Hofstra has started to separate from the pack with a conference-best nine points on a 3-1-0 league record, followed closely by Monmouth with seven points (2-1-1). After Saturday's loss to Stony Brook, the Huskies find themselves with an uphill battle with three conference points, behind Stony Brook's four.
- A LOOK AHEAD: The Huskies will have another full week off before its next conference match next Saturday, October 11th at home against Monmouth. The Huskies got out to an early 2-0 lead against the Hawks in their first meeting in New Jersey, taking the first game of the season series 2-1. The rematch takes place at Parsons Field at 1 p.m. on FloCollege.
