The Northeastern volleyball team lost 3-2 to Fordham in their first match of the season during day one of the Beanpot Classic tournament in Worcester, Mass.
Fordham took the first two sets of the match, 25-22 and 25-20, respectively, but Northeastern made a comeback in the third set, winning 26-24. The Huskies jumped out to an early lead in the fourth set and held off a late Fordham rally to secure a 27-25 win. The fifth set went back and forth and was tied 12-12 before Fordham secured the victory, winning 15-12.
Freshman
Janelle Tucker was impressive in her debut for the Huskies. Tucker recorded a double-double, posting 12 kills and 13 digs.
Senior captain
Britney Brown also posted a double-double. Brown recorded 15 kills and 30 assists. Classmate and fellow captain
Jillian Robinson led the Huskies with a .414 attack percentage.
Setter
Ina Kamenova made her debut with the Huskies and just missed a double-double with 22 assists and nine digs.
The Huskies return to action at 7 p.m. when they take on Holy Cross in their second game of the Beanpot Classic.
