Senior
Andrew Staples made Northeastern track & field history on the Saturday at the first day of the 2011 IC4A Indoor Championship by claiming the Huskies' first-ever IC4A long jump crown at BU's Track & Tennis Center.
Staples' mark helped pace a 24th-place finish for Northeastern at the 2011 IC4A Indoor Championship.
The Narragansett, R.I. native cleared 7.20m (23'7.5) to earn Northeastern 10 points in the team standings while newcomer
Kaylin Miranda finished in 18th place with measure of 6.71m (22'0.25).
In the 35-lb. weight throw, senior
Alex Iannetta finished in 10th with a toss of 17.38m (57'00.25) while newcomer
James Hall captured 19th with a measure of 16.18m (53'1.0).
Veteran
Jonathan Hall turned in a finals-qualifying time of 1:03.88 in the 500-meter dash, marking his second-best time of the season. Hall beat out 22 other runners in the qualifying round.
In Sunday's final field, Hall turned in nearly an identitcal time of 1:03.85 to pick up seventh place.
Senior
Patrick Jablonski also participated on Sunday and registered a 26th-place mark of 14.76m (48'5.25) in the shot put to close out the Huskies efforts.
The Huskies now look to warmer climates and will embrace the outdoor season starting next weekend. Northeastern will travel to Wilmington, N.C. to lift the lid on the new season at the Seahawk Invitational starting on Friday, March 11.
