The Northeastern men's track & field team raced amongst itself at Franklin Park on Saturday as part of the Northeastern Invitational while two student-athletes from Lesley College and a member of the NU Club squad joined the Huskies in the season opener.
Twelve Huskies ran on Saturday while junior
John Jantz took top honors with a time of 26:30 as part of the 8K challenge. Senior
Nick Ryan turned in the same time, but finished just a step behind Jantz for second place. Classmate Sebasiten Putzeys made his return from a redshirt season and notched a third-place jaunt just one second off the lead in 26:31.
Rookie Zachary Fraeilli showed early promise with a fourth-place march of 26:31 while sophomore
Eric Jenkins closed in with the rest of the cluster at 26:32 for fifth place. Classmate
Brian Doyle posted the same mark for sixth place.
Senior
Joe Siravo kicked out a clip of 26:47 for seventh place while newcomer
Stephen Sollowin crossed the line in 27:03 for eighth. Junior
Chris Mentas picked up ninth for his time of 29:21 while first-year harrier
Conor Lyons made the 8K march in 29:25 for 10th. Sophomore
Michael MacKenzie and freshman
Charles Conway concluded Northeastern's day, both finishing with times of 29:45.
Northeastern will make its way to the Ocean State next Saturday to run in the Bryant Invitational on Sept. 10.
