The first 1,000 students to bring a stuffed animal to the game will receive a free DogHouse t-shirt!

Northeastern at Massachusetts
Northeastern jumps back into Hockey East action this weekend with just its third traditional home-and-home of the season against Massachusetts. The Huskies, winless in their last seven (0-6-1) conference outings, lock up in an extremely pivotal matchup with the Minutemen this weekend. Massachusetts is tied for fifth in the league, holding a two-point advantage over NU heading into Friday's tilt. Last year, Northeastern and UMass offered some thrilling conclusions. In the season opener on Oct. 7, 2011, Braden Pimm scored with two seconds to play in regulation to force the draw. In the last meeting between the two squads on Feb. 3, 2012, Vinny Saponari tallied one of his two walkoff overtime goals against the Minutemen just 22 seconds into the extra frame. NU is winless in its last two trips to the Mullins Center and searches for its first win in Amherst since Jan. 7, 2011.

Minute on the Minutemen
After starting 1-3 with games against two of the league's top two teams in Boston College and Boston University, the Minutemen have righted the ship and amassed a mark of 3-2-2 in their last seven outings. UMass knocked off UConn (4-1) to start the season and have also picked up conference wins against UNH (2-1 OT), Providence (4-0) and Vermont (3-1). Conor Sheary leads Massachusetts' scoring efforts (2-7-9) and is tied for 59th in the country averaging 0.64 helpers per game. Conor Allen ranks 41st in the NCAA amongst scoring defensemen with 0.64 points per game (3-4-7). Through 11 games, UMass' standout player has been second-year goaltender Kevin Boyle. Boyle ranks sixth in the country in both goals against average (1.59) and save percentage (.939). The Minutemen's offense ranks 34th in the NCAA (2.64 gpg) while the defense is slotted 33rd (2.82 gpg).

Stringy Sap
Senior captain Vinny Saponari is riding a career-high (at NU) seven-game point streak into Friday's game at Massachusetts. The Powder Springs, Ga., native has produced eight points (3-5-8) within that stretch. If Saponari can keep up this pace, he will eclipse Steve Quailer's 10-game point streak last season that spanned from Nov. 18, 2011 to Jan. 13, 2012.

Remember us?
Sophomore Dan Cornell and Zak Stone each tallied their first points of the season against St. Lawrence on Nov. 23. Cornell assisted on Ludwig Karlsson's fifth tally of the season while Stone's helper came on Dax Lauwers' first goal as a Husky.

Dax attacks
Sophomore transfer Dax Lauwers netted his first goal as a Husky in his 12th game of the year. The Anchorage, Alaska, native scored his first collegiate goal while a member of Army (2010-11) at Mercyhurst on Nov. 13, 2010. Lauwers also assisted in his first game at Northeastern.

Roy'llin' out
Rookie sensation Kevin Roy added to his strong start with his first-career two-goal game at Vermont on Nov. 18. Roy became the second Husky to score a pair this season, following Ludwig Karlsson's performance on Nov 10 against Alabama-Huntsville. The Nov. 18th outing stands as Roy's fourth multi-point effort of the season. The Lac-Beauport, Quebec, native leads the team in scoring with 11 points (5-6-11).  Nationally speaking, Roy leads all rookies in Hockey East with 0.92 points per game and is tied for 72nd in the country in scoring amongst all skaters. His 0.42 goals per game is tied for eighth in Hockey East and tied for 85th in the NCAA.

Extra, Extra...read all about it
In Kevin Roy's two-goal performance at UVM on Nov. 18, one of his tallies was with the extra attacker. The Huskies had not scored with an extra attacker since Mike McLaughlin turned the trick at New Hampshire on Feb. 10, 2012.

Shutout showstopper
Senior goaltender Chris Rawlings set the Northeastern school record in career shutouts with 10 after the 3-0 victory over Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10. Rawlings broke Brad Thiessen's (2006-09) record of nine set back on Feb. 27, 2009. Thiessen recorded his ninth shutout in his 103rd-career start. Rawlings' notched his 10th-career shutout in his 102nd-career start as a Husky. It marks Rawlings' first shutout since blanking New Hampshire on Oct. 14, 2011. As a sophomore, Rawlings tied Keni Gibson's (2003-04) single-season shutouts record in 2010-11 with a total of five.

Shooting for the record books
In the 3-0 win against Alabama-Huntsville, Northeastern totaled 54 shots to the Chargers' 19. That number marks the most total shots for a Northeastern team since Feb. 13, 1993, when Northeastern registered 54 shots against Maine. It has been almost six and a half years since Northeastern has reached the 50-shot plateau. The last time NU totaled 50 shots was at Providence on Jan. 17, 2004 (50). The only other time Northeastern hit the 50-shot mark since the 54-shot performance on 2/13/93 was against Holy Cross on Nov. 30, 2001 (51). Northeastern outshot UAH both games on Nov. 10-11, marking the first two times of the season.

Kalling all Karlssons
Ludwig Karlsson scored three goals in two games against Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10-11, including a pair of power play goals. The last time the Stockholm, Sweden, native strung together goals in consecutive outings was a three-goal scoring stretch from Nov. 12 to Nov. 19, 2011. Three of Karlsson's five tallies on the year have come on the power play. With that figure, Karlsson is tied for 12th in the country in power play goals (0.25 pppg). Karlsson also scored two goals against Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 10, marking the first time a Husky accounted for a pair of goals since Feb. 3, 2012 against UMass.
