Behind a complete game performance from starting pitcher A.J. Johnson, George Mason (25-12, 11-7) defeated Northeastern 7-1 (14-17, 4-11) Sunday afternoon at Friedman Diamond in the rubber game of the series.

Matt Miller was the only Husky with a multi-hit game, slapping his fourth and fifth doubles of the season off Johnson in the first and ninth innings.
Matt Cook started the game for the Huskies but couldn't make it past the fifth inning, pitching four frames and allowing five runs on seven hits with four strikeouts to take the loss. Junior relief pitcher
Dylan Maki came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just three hits to the 12 batters he faced.
A.J. Johnson only needed 93 pitches in a complete game effort, allowing just one run on seven hits and striking out seven for his fifth win of the season.
The Patriots opened the scoring in the second, taking a 1-0 lead when Mick Foley hit an RBI groundout after Zack Helgeson and Josh Leemhuis hit back-to-back singles to start the inning.
The Huskies struggled early against Johnson, only mustering two hits through the first four innings. George Mason capitalized on its starter's efforts, scoring three runs in the fourth to widen the lead to 4-0. The highlight of the inning was a two-run double to left center by Nick Allen.
In the fifth, Cook allowed a double to Dan Schafferman and a walk to Helgeson before he was replaced by Maki. The reliever was able to get out of the inning after surrendering just one run on a single by Blaise Fernandez.
Oliver Hart came in to pitch the eighth and ninth for Northeastern and allowed his first two runs of the season. The sophomore's ERA is now 3.18 in four appearences on the mound.
After scoring a run on a suicide squeeze play in the eighth, the Patriots scored their final run of the game in the top of the ninth on a solo home run by Helgeson.
Northeastern scored its lone run of the day in the ninth after Miller doubled down the left field line to start of the inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by senior first baseman
Tucker Roeder.
Northeastern has a day off before it hosts Bryant for a mid-week nonconference game on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The Beanpot consolation game originally scheduled for Wednesday in Lowell against the Boston College Eagles has been cancelled.
