BOSTON --
The Northeastern men's and women's track & field and cross country teams recently volunteered at the 12th annual Boston Centers for Youth and Family's All-Girls Sports Festival last week at the Reggie Lewis Center.

“Our student-athletes hope to provide these young women with encouragement and motivation to continue participation in sports and fitness programs,” said NU assistant coach Tramaine Shaw.

For the past few years, the Huskies have enjoyed volunteering at the festival, and helped host a track clinic on Wednesday and Thursday. The weeklong festival also included workshops and activities focused on promoting health and avoiding risky behavior.

“This festival of sports and enrichment activities provides girls and young women of Boston with a wonderful forum to exercise their minds, bodies and spirits,” BCYF Director or Recreation, Sports and Fitness Ryan FitzGerald wrote in a brochure for the event.

“There are lifelong benefits to participating in sports and fitness programs. We wish all of the participants well and hope they continue to engage in lifestyle choices that promote their health and personal development.”

The Huskies are back in action this weekend for the Stonehill and Payton Jordan Invitationals.
