BOSTON – The Northeastern track & field team closes out the 2013 outdoor season this week when freshmen Wesley Gallagher and Jocelyn Hubbard head to Des Moines, Iowa for the USA Junior Outdoor Championships. Hubbard will run in the first round of the 800-meter run on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. (ET) before Gallagher competes in the 5000-meter run at 8:15 p.m. (ET).

Des Moines will host some of the top junior athletes in the country, ages 16-19, with the top finishers representing the red, white and blue in Medellin, Colombia August 23–25. This year's Team USA squad will look to best the 72 medals won by Team USA at the 2011 Pan Am Junior Athletics Championships in Miramar, Florida.

Gallagher to date
Gallagher will be competing for the first time since May 11 at the New England Championships. He scored in two events at the CAA Championship earlier this season, highlighted by a bronze medal and personal best in the 5000 (14:24.27). The Pembroke, Mass. native also had a successful outing in the 1500-meter run that day, taking fifth (3:56.48).

Gallagher is one of 27 student-athletes slated to participate in the 5000-meter run, including athletes from Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Penn, Stanford and Syracuse.

Hubbard to date
Hubbard (Marshfield, Mass.) has gotten off to a torrid start for the Huskies in her freshman campaign, capturing the 800-meter title at the CAA Championships on May 4 with a personal best time of 2:10.39, a time which already ranks second all-time at Northeastern. She has also etched her name into the NU record book in the indoor 800 and 1000-meter runs, as well as the outdoor 1500-meter run.

A 2013 silver medalist in the 800-meter run at the New England Championships, Hubbard will take to the track against a field of 23 student-athletes.

NU unveils digital media guides
