Gallagher, Darrow earn individual titles at Joe Donahue Games

Overall Results

BOSTON—Wesley Gallagher led the Northeastern men's track and field team at the Jon Donahue Games after claiming the individual title in the 3,000-meter run on Friday night at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Joe Donahue Games honor the late Northeastern track and field legend, throwing coach and Hall of Famer who passed away on Oct. 10, 2011. As a former Northeastern student-athlete and coach, Coach Donahue's efforts made a lifelong impact on others by being a successful competitor and coach.

In a dual scored meet against New Hampshire, Maine, Brown, Vermont and Dartmouth, Northeastern walked away with first-place team finishes across the board.

Gallagher, the reigning CAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, crossed with a mark of 8:15.13 to set a new personal best. The sophomore led six Huskies in the event, while Stephen Sollowin and Zachary Fraielli also snagged top-10 finishes.

Jackson MacDonald and Kyle Darrow took 10th and 15th in the 200-meter dash, an event that showcased 48 athletes. Sprinters Josh Norris and Donovan Henry placed sixth (50.11) and ninth (50.59), respectively, in the 400-meter dash, which also highlighted over 40 runners.

Rookie Paul Duffey notched a third-place finish with a mark of 1:54.95 in the 800-meter run.

The men's 4x400-meter relay, a quartet made up of Henry, David Johnson, Anthony Pavlich, and anchored by Norris, earned the crown after crossing at 3:23.01.

In the field, five Huskies earned top-five finishes including an individual title in the long jump from Kyle Darrow (6.92 meters). MacDonald claimed third in the same event after covering 6.85 meters before taking fourth in the high jump (1.98 meters). Kevin Rosenberg threw for 15.92 meters in the shot put event, good for a second-place steal.

The Huskies return to action for the two-day Valentine Invitational, hosted by cross-town rival Boston University, beginning on Friday, Feb. 7. The teams will continue competition the following day.
