Women's ScheduleBOSTON – Northeastern director of cross country and track and field
Cathrine Erickson announced the 2014 men's and women's cross country schedule on Thursday. The slate includes three regular season races and five postseason competitions, highlighted by the 2014 CAA Championship at Franklin Park on Nov. 1.
Â
The program is excited to release the upcoming schedule," Erickson said. "With the group that is returning and the incoming student-athletes that we recruited, we are really looking forward to a fruitful season. Additionally, we are thrilled with where the program is headed as a team and are extremely pleased with the quality people who are joining the program. We are adding student-athletes that are not only talented, but are coming to Northeastern with the right value system and are excited about what they will bring to the program as a whole."

The season gets underway on Aug. 30 when the Huskies travel to Keene, New Hampshire for the KSC Alumni Invitational, hosted by Keene State. Racing is slated to get underway at 11 a.m.
Â
One week later, Northeastern heads to Smithfield, Rhode Island for the Nassaney Invitational at Bryant. Last season, the men's squad defeated both Bryant and Boston University thanks to four top-five finishes in a dual scored meet, while
Jordan O'Dea sparked the women's team to wins against the Bulldogs and Terriers.
Â
Three straight meets at Franklin Park greet the Huskies in late September, beginning with the Battle in Beantown on Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. Last season's race included some of the best schools from around the nation, including Oregon, Syracuse, Providence and Wisconsin.
Â
The NU men will look to build off its second place finish at the 2013 New England Championships on Oct. 11. Last season, the Huskies logged four top-ten finishes at the event.
Â
Northeastern will host the CAA Championships for the first time since joining the conference in 2005 when the league descends on Franklin Park on Nov. 1 for a 10 a.m. championship race. The NU men have shown steady progression in the team standings at the league championship, finishing second last season after three straight years of third place finishes. The women, meanwhile, jumped four spots to fourth at last year's race.
Â
The 2014 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship will take place on Nov. 14 at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York at 10 a.m., with qualifying teams and student-athletes advancing to the national championship meet on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
