BOSTON --Â The Northeastern Huskies once against had a stellar weekend of competition as the team headed across town to Boston University to compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by the Terriers. It was a two-day event, with the women competing on Friday, Feb. 13 and the men wrapping up the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 14.

Both teams had several athletes stand out amongst their peers, highlighted by 34 IC4A/ECAC and NEICAAA qualifying times, as well as more than six personal bests.

Friday's events kicked off with the 60-meter hurdles and 60-meter dash.
Jessica Scott was the lead Husky in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 11th place with a time of 7.76. Just behind Scott were
Jessica Dunnigan and
Amanda Reilly, who finished 20th and 25th, respectively.

As the day continued, the Huskies turned their attention to the 3000-meter run where three members of the team –
Lucy Young,
Jordan O'Dea and
Kerri Ruffo – were about to break away from the pack. All three recorded new personal bests in the event, with Young leading the Huskies after completing the 3000 meters in 9:37.20. O'Dea and Ruffo crossed the finish line just moments later with times of 9:46.75 and 9:55.83, respectively.

In the field events,
Nicole Genard had another strong outing as she wrapped up a ninth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 9.55 meters. Her teammate
Jacilyn Briggs also experienced success as she finished in fourth place in the pole vault with a toss of 3.80 meters.

Alexandra Rose continued her strong start to the season in the weight throw, setting a new personal best with a toss of 16.75 meters.

On Saturday, the competition continued for the Huskies as the men took their turn at completing the events.
Jordan Samuels kicked things off in the 60-meter hurdles by setting a new personal best with a time of 8.14.Â
Kyle Darrow was at the head of the pack in the 60-meter dash after completing the event in just 6.99 seconds, good for 10th overall.

In the 500-meter dash it was
Donovan Henry setting the tone as he finished in ninth overall with a time of 1:04.59, while
Paul Duffey set a new PR in the mile, completing his best event in just 4:02.10.

In the field events,
Ryan Kim and
Kevin Rosenberg shined in the shot put, finishing in 11th and 12th place, respectively, with marks of 15.93 and 15.53 meters. Darrow once again owned the long jump, wrapping up first place with a jump of 7.54 meters.

• John Schilkowsky is now no. 11 all-time in the mile.Â
• Christian Stafford set a new personal best in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:24.69
    • That time is also no. 8 all-time.Â
