Northeastern Tournament Central
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – Facing elimination for the second time in as many games, the Northeastern baseball team threw up five crooked numbers on the scoreboard at The Ballpark at Patriots Point during a high-scoring affair as the Huskies bounced James Madison from the CAA tournament with a 19-9 victory on Thursday night.

With the win, Northeastern (31-26) advances to Game 8 of the CAA tournament on Friday, May 27, at 3:30 p.m., when the Huskies will play No. 2 William & Mary in the third elimination game. The winner of Game 8 will remain in the stadium that night to appear in Game 9, the tournament's fourth elimination game, at 7 p.m.

Northeastern tied its postseason program record for runs scored (19), scoring 11 unanswered from the fifth to the eighth after losing a seven-run advantage in the top of the fifth.
Pat Madigan responded to the Dukes' rally with a pivotal grand slam in the bottom of the fifth, capping off a five-run inning while awarding the Huskies a 13-8 lead.

David Hopkins went five-for-six out of the leadoff spot for Northeastern (31-26), scoring three times and registering two RBIs.
Charlie McConnell and
Cam Hanley sandwiched two-hit games around Madigan in the NU lineup, while
Jake Farrell and
Max Burt combined for five hits out of the bottom two spots in the order.

As a team, the Huskies totaled 10 extra-base hits, including a tournament-tying record, seven doubles.
Cam Walsh and Farrell each came away with triples, while Farrell swiped a base for the second consecutive tournament game.
