BOSTON – Reduced to nine men 33 minutes into the first half, the Northeastern men's soccer team faced a steady, uphill challenge Tuesday night against Boston University as the Huskies were defeated, 3-0, by the Terriers at Nickerson Field.

NU freshman goalkeeper
Matt Dabrowski was put to work early and often during his first 90-minute collegiate contest, saving seven of the 10 shots sent his direction. The rookie from Staten Island, New York, kept Northeastern (1-4-0) competitive during the final hour, putting a glove on five of six shots while the Huskies were two men weaker than Boston University (2-1-0).

Moustapha Samb and
Khesanio Hall were both shown straight red cards for challenges made during the 28th and 33rd minutes, respectively, leaving the Huskies disadvantaged while attempting to come back from a 2-0 deficit. In total, nine cards were displayed towards the two sides: four to NU and five to BU.

Khori Bennett and
Charlton Muhlauri were the two Northeastern starters that registered shot attempts, while
Kevin Carvalho,
Ackim Mpofu, and
Jeff Choonoo each recorded shots as reserves.

Boston University (18th minute): Magnus Benediktsson initiated an attack for BU, hugging the left sideline and end line before passing back to Felix de Bona near the top of the 18-yard box. De Bona then motioned to his right and buried a shot along the turf from 12 yards out to Dabrowski's left.

Boston University (32nd minute): With only Dabrowski to beat, Anthony Viteri won a one-on-one shot from straight away, 12 yards out from the goal line.

Boston University (56th minute): The Terriers did well executing a run up the right side of the pitch. Mark Wadid sent a cross into the six-yard box from the right end line, where Matt McDonnell headed in the third BU goal of the match.

With their four-match road stretch behind them, the Huskies will make a warm return to Parsons Field on Saturday, Sept. 17, when Northeastern hosts Drexel in its first CAA game of the 2016 season.

Saturday's match will be a Scarf Rewards Card Game at Parsons Field. All students with three card punches will receive the official 2016 Northeastern soccer scarf, while students that collect six card punches for all six Scarf Rewards Card Games this season will receive the limited edition Northeastern soccer scarf. Students may also acquire new rewards cards at Saturday's match.
