NEWARK, Del. – Remaining scoreless with Delaware for close to an hour, the Northeastern men's soccer team was upended by a series of second-half goals from the Blue Hens as the Huskies were defeated, 4-0, at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium on Saturday night.

Northeastern (2-6-0, 1-1-0 CAA) suffered its first loss of the conference season after earning three points the previous weekend during a 2-0 home victory against Drexel. NU was limited to two shots on goal on four attempts, with
Lewis Aird,
Daniel Arvidsson,
Christian McKenna, and
Khesanio Hall creating the Huskies' best chances.

Delaware (7-2-0, 2-0-0 CAA) ran its offense to the tune of 19 shot attempts and eight shots on goal, scoring three times within a 10-minute window during the second half. Ben Sampson scored twice for the Blue Hens, while Fede Prieto and Carlos Perales each netted goals as well.

NU played the final 12 minutes of the match with 10 men after
Chris Scatterday was sent off during the 79th minute following a second yellow card.
Jonathan Thuresson faced six more shots than Delaware's Todd Morton, making four saves.

Delaware (60th minute): Thomas de Villardi attempted a Delaware corner from the right flag, having it deflected by the Huskies towards the left sideline and out for a throw. Upon play resuming, the Blue Hens flipped the field, finding de Villardi open near the right corner. De Villardi then hugged the end line and directed a shot off the left post, which was polished off by Ben Sampson's try from five yards away.

Delaware (63rd minute): Catching Northeastern in transition, Dani Laguna sent a long cross from nearly 30 yards out on the left side to Guillermo Delgado, who had established ground inside the six-yard box. Delgado headed the ball backwards to Fede Prieto, who sent a one-timer off Thuresson's body and in.

Delaware (69th minute): Ben Sampson headed in Thomas de Villardi's corner from the right flag, finding the back left corner of the net.

Delaware (89th minute): After Delaware had been called for offside during the 88th minute,
Brendan Massie restarted play quickly within the Huskies' defensive third. The Blue Hens managed to intercept a pass, turning the play into an odd-man rush towards Northeastern's goal. Carlos Perales worked a give-and-go with Marco Siverio, making the final touch.

Northeastern will make its way back to Parsons Field on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when NU hosts Hofstra in a CAA match. Kickoff between the Huskies and the Pride is set for 6 p.m.
