STANFORD, Calif. – Racing against some of the top individual competitors in the country, Jordan O'Dea, Paul Duffey and Marc Rienas held their own at Stanford's season opening invite on Friday evening. O'Dea clocked a 10:38.75 finish in the 3000m steeple chase while Duffey and Rienas put up times of 3:44.17 and 3:51.75 in the 1500m run. Duffey placed 12^th in the 62 competitor field; Rienas took 44^th and O'Dea finished 25^th out of 38 athletes in her race. All three Huskies qualified for the New England Championship meet with their performances.
 
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – On Saturday afternoon, an additional 79 student-athletes made their outdoor season debuts at Yale's Mark Young Invite. As a team, the Huskies accumulated 82 top ten finishes, 41 top three finishes and 21 first place finishes.
 
Sprinting duo Sydney Fisher and Kyle Darrow earned back-to-back first place finishes in the 100m dash with New England qualifying times of 12.01 and 10.63. Darrow's 10.63 was just .14 off Lonnie Hooker's program record from 1987.
 
The Huskies also laid claim on the 400m with a 58.69 run from Patrice Williams and a 51.27 finish from Chris Jewett.
 
The foursome of Betsy Garnick, Nick Fofana, Audrey Weyand and David Adams dominated the hurdles, sweeping all four races for the Huskies. Garnick and Fofana turned in New England qualifying performances in the 100/110m races with times of 14.72 and 14.81. Weyand and Adams recorded 1:07.96 and 58.53 performances in the 400m hurdle race.
 
In the distance events, Corinne Myers highlighted the 800m run, clocking 2:20.93 while Jay Navin grabbed first place in the 1500m with a time of 4:12.69.
 
In the field, the Huskies put up 12 New England Championship qualifying marks, including Leeyan Redwood, Zoe Taitel and Priscilla Senoo who took 1-2-3 in the shot put with throws of 13.79m, 13.51m and 13.20m, well past the 12.34m qualifying standard. Taitel and Senoo went on to record New England qualifying marks in the discus as well.
 
Rookie Travis Kartz notched a 4.70m performance in the pole vault in just his second outing of the season and added just under a foot to his mark from last weekend at Rice University.
 
Eric Mellusi added two top five performances in the shot put and discus with New England qualifying throws of 15.23m and 49.10m while Ryan Kim took first overall in the shot put, out-throwing the next closest competitor by .71m with a 16.34m mark.
 
The Huskies will continue road competition next weekend at both the Auburn University Invite and the University of Miami Invite.
