PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In its final meet of the regular season, the Northeastern track and field team notched 25 personal bests, 27 New England qualifying marks, nine ECAC/IC4A qualifiers and four NU top 10 performances. Sophomore
Sarah Adler also set the women's one-mile bar at 4:55.96.
Â
Eric Mellusi and
Priscilla Senoo both had standout days, each tallying two personal bests in throwing events. Mellusi recorded career highs in the discus and hammer throw with marks of 52.08m and 54.63m, both of which qualifies him for the New England and IC4A Championship meet. The junior's first place discus throw also ranks eighth all-time at NU. Senoo led the women's throwers today as the top Husky in the shot put and discus. Earning two top-five finishes, the sophomore reset her career bests at 13.40m in the shot put and 40.45m in the discus.
Â
In her season debut one-mile run, sophomore
Sarah Adler slashed five seconds off her previous personal best and ran the first sub five-minute mile of her career with a 4:55.96 finish. The Suffern, N.Y. native took first overall and etched her name in the Northeastern record books.
Â
Other notable performances from the meet included
Chris Jewett's 21.83 run in the 200m, the women's 4x100m relay team that finished with a 47.43 mark,
David Adams' 14.81 run in the 110m hurdles and
Collins Ebozue's 22.18 200m race. Jewett tabbed a personal best mark while also claiming first place and notching his first IC4A qualifier of the season. The women's 4x100m team also punched its ticket to the ECAC championship, putting up a performance within two seconds of the school record. Rounding out the top performers were Adams and Ebozue who both recorded New England and IC4A qualifiers.
Â
With the conclusion of the regular season, the Huskies will now turn their attention to four upcoming championship meets. Next weekend, Northeastern will travel to the University of Delaware for the CAA Championships. The following weekend will play host to both New England Championships and ECAC/IC4A Championships. Later in the month, qualifying members of the team will compete at the University of Kentucky in the NCAA East Regional meet.
