PHIILADELPHIA
– In what was a postseason-like regular season finale, it was 'win and you're in' for the Northeastern field hockey team, and they did just that; dominating Drexel from start to finish and coming away with a 3-1 victory over the Dragons Sunday afternoon.

With goals from Kellie Stigas, Melanie Weber, and Rachel Campbell and a four-save game from Julia Gluyas, the Huskies all worked together to solidify their spot in the CAA Tournament next weekend in Newark, Del.

Campbell's goal marked the sixth-straight game that the Watertown, Mass. native has scored in heading into the postseason.

The Huskies got the scoring going early, when, in the second minute of action, Kellie Stigas netted her third goal of the season. After Rachel Campbell drove the ball into the circle, an initial shot by June Curry-Lindahl was stopped and kicked out to Laura MacLachlan. MacLachlan settled the ball and tried a shot of her own that was blocked, settled by June Curry-Lindahl and then struck in by Stigas for the score.

Northeastern made it a 2-0 lead in the 10th minute of action when Melanie Weber scored her second goal of the year, finding herself in the right place at the right time. Again, Curry-Lindahl had a point blank attempt that was saved by Drexel goalie Erin Gilchrist, the ball once again kicked back out into the circle where Camille O'Conor found it and sent it at the goal. Weber was there to scoop it up and send it into the back of the net.

The lead grew to three goals in the second half when Rachel Campbell sent home a hard shot from just inside the circle off of a penalty corner for her eighth goal of the season. Curry-Lindahl started things with the insert, Meg Barrett stopped and kicked it just forward getting out of the way for Campbell's hard shot on goal that got through everyone.

The Dragons got one back in the 62nd minute, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies came away with the victory.

The Huskies locked up the third spot in the CAA, their best CAA finish since the 2014 season, and will face William & Mary in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament next weekend in Newark, Del. on Friday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
