Six Huskies honored by the CAA

Both June Curry-Lindahl and Laura MacLachlan earned First Team All-Conference honors in their senior season

RICHMOND, Va. – Six Northeastern field hockey players received Colonial Athletic Association postseason honors as announced Thursday afternoon.

Seniors June Curry-Lindahl and Laura MacLachlan were named to the All-CAA First Team, senior Rachel Campbell and sophomores Julia Gluyas and Camille O'Conor earned All-CAA Second Team honors and Lexie Dunleavy was named to the CAA All-Rookie team.

With Curry-Lindahl and MacLachlan each earning a spot on the first team, the Huskies have now had a conference first team honoree in 10-straight seasons while this marks the first time since the trio of Becky Garner, Emma Lamison, and Natalie Stewart earned First Team honors in the 2014 season.

After three seasons as an All-CAA Second Team honoree, Curry-Lindahl earns her first career First Team honors after a stunning senior season where she led the CAA in points and goals almost from start to finish.

The Rhode-Saint Genese, Belgium native played and started in all 18 games recording 12 goals and eight assists on the year for 32 points, which ranks first in the CAA. The senior led the conference for the majority of the season in goals and points. Nationally, Curry-Lindahl's PPG ranks 26th while her 12 goals in 18 games ranks 28th in the nation.

Five of Curry-Lindahl's goals and four of her assists (14 points) have come in conference action.

Laura MacLachlan graphic

For MacLachlan, the All-CAA First Team honors come after being named to the Second Team last season.

An ever-looming presence in the midfield, MacLachlan has quietly put together four goals and two assists this season for the Huskies, including one game-winner. Both of her assists, as well as the one of her goals, came against Hofstra where she put together her second-career multi-assist effort and her first ever game with at least one goal and multiple assists. MacLachlan added a strike against top-seeded Delaware in the final weekend of action.

MacLachlan has taken 39 shots on the year, fourth on the team, and is significant to many aspects of the Huskies' game and is generally one of the main attackers on penalty corner opportunities.

Rachel Campbell Graphic

After a breakout season, Campbell has earned her first career postseason honors named to the All-CAA Second Team.

After dominating the backfield in her first three seasons on campus, Campbell, nominated as a captain by her peers, was moved up to the midfield where her goal total erupted, especially down the stretch in conference action. After registering her first career goal against Boston College earlier this season, the senior continued her goal-scoring ways against Towson and has tallied seven goals in the last six games, finishing with a pair of goals against James Madison including the game-winner with 38.4 seconds remaining that helped her to her first career CAA Weekly Honor.

Currently she leads the conference with three of her seven goals coming as the game-winners for the Huskies. Despite her move up front, her defensive ways still come into play as she is still there to challenge her opponents and strip them of their possession and help set up her teammates offensively.

Julia Gluyas graphic

In her sophomore season with the Huskies, Gluyas picks up All-CAA Second Team honors, her first career postseason nod from the conference.

Gluyas has only improved in her second season as a Husky. After getting the start halfway through her rookie year and finishing with 43 goals allowed and a 3.03 GAA, Gluyas has locked down in goal this season making a career best 82 saves, while allowing just 43 goals for a 2.41 GAA, third in the conference. During CAA play, she has complied 21 saves, and has lowered her GAA to 2.23 GPG in 407 minutes of action.

Camille O'Conor graphic

An All-Rookie selection last season, Camille O'Conor has added to her postseason accolades with All-CAA Second Team honors in 2018.

There was no sophomore slump for O'Conor who, after notching eight goals and four assists during her freshman season, added seven goals and five assists, including a pair of game winners and while recording multiple goal efforts for the second and third time in her career.

In conference play she has tallied a goal and three assists, with her lone goal resulting as the game-winner against Hofstra. She is a presence that opponents always have to be aware of as she is able to sneak her way in on penalty corners redirecting shots, while also moving quickly up the field and sending perfect passes to her teammates setting them up for scores.

Lexie Dunleavy graphic

Rounding out the honorees is rookie Lexie Dunleavy who earns her first career conference honors after being named to the All-Rookie team.

In her first year on campus, Dunleavy has excelled with three goals and four assists overall on the year, fifth among all Husky scorers. Dunleavy has played in all 18 games on the year, making one start, but she has been the most helpful in conference action putting up two goals and two assists during that time, as her six points in conference play rank second among Huskies behind June Curry-Lindahl in CAA action. Her CAA point total also ranks fourth among conference freshmen.
