Field Hockey hosts final homestand

The Huskies will honor seven players prior to the game against Hofstra on Sunday in a pregame Senior Day ceremony

BOSTON– The final weekend of the regular season is upon us and the Northeastern field hockey team will round out their regular season schedule with a pair of CAA foes at Dedham Field.  
 
The Huskies will take on Drexel on Friday night at 6 p.m. and will conclude the regular season against Hofstra on Senior Day Sunday at 1 p.m. Prior to the game seven players will be honored in a pregame Senior Day ceremony. 
 
TWO THINGS TO KNOW:
 
  1. Taking a look at the competition
 
HUSKIES VS. DREXEL
  • Northeastern and Drexel will once again square off in the final weekend of the season, this time in the penultimate game of the year, and at Dedham Field
  • The Huskies boast a 19-8-1 record against the Dragons, including a 3-1 victory last season that once again solidified their spot in the CAA Tournament
  • With the win, Northeastern has won five of the last seven games between the two teams
  • Drexel is led by Puk Thewessen who leads the team with 13 points on four goals and five assists this season while Avery Powell has a team-leading five goals
  • In goal, Megan Hadfield has the majority of the responsibility with 715 minutes of action allowing 31 goals for a 2.60 GAA and a 61.3 save percentage on 148 shots faced
 
HUSKIES PRIDE
  • Hofstra, who the Huskies faced in their first CAA road contest of the season last year, will round out the regular season against the Pride this season at Dedham Field 
  • Northeastern boasts a 18-6 series lead, including a 5-2 victory last season against the Pride that saw four unanswered goals, including three in the second half, en route to the 5-2 victory
  • The last time the two teams squared off at Dedham Field, the Huskies' put up a program best (in conference play) eight goals over the Pride
  • Hofstra is led by Madison Warfel who leads the team with 22 points on seven goals and eight assists, while Cami Larsson has a team-high nine goals this season
  • In goal, Merlijn van der Vegt has played in nearly 900 minutes of action allowing 36 goals for a 2.41 GAA while saving 71.9 percent of the 221 shots faced this season

  • Prior to the team's regular season finale on Sunday, Northeastern will honor seven players in a pregame ceremony
  • The Northeastern senior class is responsible for 38 victories as well as helping return the program to the CAA Tournament and the national rankings, including a No. 25 ranking earlier this season
