RICHMOND, Va. – After compiling a pair of dominant attacking performances last week for the Northeastern women's volleyball team, freshman outside hitter
Erica Staunton was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.

Staunton excelled at the pins for Northeastern, which cruised to the straight-set win against William & Mary (Oct. 28) before its competitive, four-set defeat against Hofstra (Nov. 2). The Orland Park, Illinois, native totaled 21 kills across both matches (3.00 kills per set), combining to hit .429 at the net.

During Monday's victory against the Tribe, Staunton enjoyed her best attacking match of the season, totaling eight kills on 11 attacks (hitting .636). The NU rookie then carried her hitting success into Saturday's match against the Pride, during which she connected on 13 kills against two errors, attempting 31 attacks (hitting .355).

Considering CAA matches only this season, Staunton sports the 10th best kills per set average (2.94) in the league, ranking first among conference rookies. She also owns the third highest kill total (180) on the Huskies across all matches, trailing her upperclassman teammates,
Natalie Shollin (204 kills) and
Athena Ardila (181).

Staunton and the Huskies will resume CAA action on Thursday, Nov. 7, when Northeastern begins its final regular season road trip at UNCW. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
