Three Things to Know
1. Huskies in the CAA Championship- Sunday marks the fifth time the Northeastern Huskies have been to the championship round of the CAA Tournament and the second time they face Delaware. Northeastern arrives at the title match after beating No. 23 William & Mary 1-0 thanks to a late Camille O'Conor game winning goal . The game will be held at Fred P. Rullo Stadium on the University of Delaware's campus in Newark.
2. Dynamite Delaware- After beating James Madison five to three, on Lotte de Koening's four goals, No. 11 Delaware will be heading to their seventh straight championship on Sunday. Head Coach Rolf Van De Kerkhof coached the Blue Hens to a 14-3 regular season record which earned them the top seed in the CAA. Delaware is led by CAA player of the year, Femke Strong, a 42-point scorer with 16 goals and 10 assists on the 2019 season.
3. Why we are here- Northeastern posted a 10-7 record in the regular season to earn the number three seed in the CAA tournament. Under head coach Shelly Morris, the Huskies boasted the best scoring average in the CAA at 3.07 and sit right behind Delaware in scoring differential. Lauren Rowe, Alli Meehan, Kasidy Anderson and Camille O' Conor all currently have 20 points or more of total offense going into tomorrow's game. The Huskies are an offensive powerhouse but the veteran defense consisting of players such as Lauren Brewster, Sam Bodo and Julia Gluyas keep the Huskies stable on the back line.
