Vote Davies for Hobey!
BOSTON -- On the back of a 6-2-0 February, Northeastern men's hockey junior
Jeremy Davies has been named National Player of the Month by the Hockey Commissioners Association for the month of February.
The 2018 All-American and 2019 Hobey Baker candidate racked up 12 points (3-9-12) in eight games throughout the month. The nine assists and 12 points were first and tied for first in Hockey East, as well as tied for fifth and second, respectively, in the nation.
Davies made his money on the power play in February, racking up a conference-best eight of his points (two goals, six assists) on the man advantage. Those eight points are also tied for the most in the nation during the month. Thanks in large part to Davies' contributions the Huskies' power play has been operating at a 35% (7-of-20) success rate in the last six games of February, second-best in the nation over that span.
The junior defenseman has been getting it done on both sides of the puck, making a team-high 15 blocks in addition to his offensive contributions. Davies and the Husky defense allowed two or less goals in five of their eight games in February.
Davies added some particularly impressive performances throughout the month. On Feb. 4, the junior provided the assist on
Tyler Madden's game-winning overtime goal in the first round of the Beanpot, which Northeastern went on to win for the second straight season. Capping the month off, Davies put in a four-point (two goals, two assists) effort against New Hampshire in a 6-0 victory, including one goal and two assists on the power play.
Davies has been a difference maker for the Huskies all year. He currently leads the team in assists (24), points (32) and is second in blocks (46) on the season. A Hockey East First Team All-Star last year, Davies will look to improve on his stellar play on Friday March 8that Mathews Arena for Senior Day against the University of New Hampshire.
